Rengstorff House is a Victorian jewel surrounded by a 750-acre wildlife and recreation area – the perfect choice for your upcoming wedding event.

Originally built in 1867, Rengstorff House is the oldest home in Mountain View and was restored to its historic glory in 1991 with a hip roof, a central gable crowned by a widow’s walk, front portico and symmetrical room layout. Indoors, the facility has 11-foot ceilings and is beautifully furnished featuring ornate brass chandeliers, Victorian plaster rosettes, push-button light switches, Bradbury & Bradbury wallpaper designs, and Eastlake furniture appropriate to the time.

For wedding ceremonies and receptions, the garden space provides a wonderful backdrop in the spring, summer and fall, with brick patios surrounded by blooming flowers and other natural areas. The house and gardens are available for rent every day of the week except during public hours, which are every Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The maximum capacity indoors is 60 people, and the house and grounds combined can accommodate up to 150 guests.

Included in the rental fee is the use of the entire first floor of this historic Victorian home as well as the outdoor gardens, adjoining parking lot and overflow parking throughout Shoreline at Mountain View. You also choose your own vendors for price-consciousness, flexibility and flair. The Rengstorff House is a City of Mountain View facility and offers reasonable rates as low as $200/hour!

Joe “Sparky” Bullock started building up his classic car collection when he was only 12 years old with his first car, a 1940 coupe. He now has over 20 custom built classic hot rods.

Holbrook Palmer Park – Atherton Event Venue

Holbrook Palmer Park, in Atherton, is a breathtaking outdoor venue that has the flexibility to host a variety of events. The white gazebo is quite popular for staging, as is the clearing in the middle of the oak trees. There are over 22 acres in the park, which will take you and your guests far away, into a beautiful garden ambiance. You will find the staff to be accessible, friendly and down to earth, and there is a definite casual vibe throughout the grounds.

The Main House has three rooms and a kitchen, and is located right in the middle of the park. The meeting room is the largest room in the house, with over 700 square feet. A stone walk and a patio connect the Main House and the Jennings Pavilion, which is an excellent staging area if your event needs more of a party atmosphere. There is even a playground under the oaks for children at the event.

To get a true sense of the history of the park, which goes back to the 1870’s, you’ll want to check out the Water Tower and the Carriage House. You can host up to 100 guests in the Carriage House, and include a dance floor as well. If you combine staging areas, you can get over 200 guests between the Main House and the Carriage House – even over 250 if you use the outside patio.

Elizabeth Gamble Gardens – Event Venue

The Elizabeth Gamble Gardens sits on two and a half acres about forty miles outside San Francisco, in the university town of Palo Alto, offering a wedding venue that will take you back decades, if not centuries. The gardens are operated by a nonprofit horticultural foundation that is volunteer-driven. If your event will have fewer than 100 guests, and you want the ambiance of a garden, then the Elizabeth Gamble Gardens could be an ideal choice.

There are several structures throughout the property that would help you entertain guests, including the Carriage House and the Tea House. The demonstration and formal gardens also stand ready as potential staging areas. The foundation also offers classes in horticulture when events are not taking place.

The main house has three main areas: the library, the dining room and the living room, and can hold as many as fifty guests all by itself. Extra guests can move to the Carriage House, which has a patio and complete kitchen. The Tea House is ideal for smaller groups. All of the staging areas have Victorian décor, and despite the fact that volunteers are in charge of all areas of operation, the grounds, buildings and furnishings all stay in tip-top condition.

San Mateo County History Museum – A Unique Event Venue

On 2200 Broadway in Redwood City, California, sits the San Mateo County History Museum in all its regal splendor. Originally built in 1910 and used as the County Courthouse, the courthouse has recently been restored and no detail was left out. Without a doubt, the most eye-catching feature of the entire museum is the dome ceiling, with its multi-colored glass sky panels, towering over the rotunda. There probably isn’t a couple in the world that wouldn’t want to get married under it.

A lovely grand staircase, which is a favorite place for guest pictures, winds its way up to Courtroom A. Courtroom A is maintained to preserve its original look, and definitely invokes a nostalgia-like feeling upon entering. It seems like there is polished oak railings and furnishings everywhere. The oak complements the thick red carpet, which is infused with gold highlights. There are some impressive exhibits throughout the museum, pretty much all of them are related to history in some fashion. One notable exhibit is the past technologies display, which lays out how far technology has come in the last 100 years.

As far as capacity is concerned, the entire venue can seat 290 comfortably, 400 standing. This is a great venue for a wedding, not only for the beautiful surroundings, but also because you can arrange to have the museum open for your wedding guests after the reception (or during it, etc.) which adds a unique twist to the day. Past customers who were married at San Mateo all remarked that their guests really enjoyed walking through to see the exhibits.

If there is one thing that separates San Mateo from all the other wedding venues, it would be the flexibility. With all the different rooms, courthouses, and museum, you have more control over the event than you would at other venues. From setup to cleanup, food, wine, rental, decor, and the entertainment we had a lot of fun and it shows. People had a great time. We love doing events like this where we can really shine.
